Finnish natural stone is a unique material
Every product made from natural stone is unique in both color and texture. The Finnish granite we process is an ecological and ethical choice. It is carved into things meant to last forever.
Finnish granites are suitable for all applications—from gravestones and home interiors to all types of construction, both indoors and outdoors. The durability and beautiful appearance of Finnish stone bring prestige and maintenance-free longevity to any project.
The use of Finnish stone has a long tradition. Durable environments have always been built from Finnish hard stone—granite. In the lifespan of stone, hundreds of years are a short time, as seen in old stone-clad buildings, walls, and sculptures that represent a strong cultural heritage in Finnish history. The greatest and most enduring achievements of our architecture have been carved from stone.
Finnish granite is highly valued worldwide. Granite products and raw materials have been exported from Finland to various parts of the world for decades. Loimaan Kivi aims to promote the export of finished stone products that bear the mark of our strong expertise in the stone industry.
We also continuously invest in making our production more environmentally friendly. At our Loimaa factory, we have invested in more energy-efficient machinery, lighting, and heating solutions. Finnish granite is a pure natural material that requires no chemicals to process. For example, all surplus stone from our production is 100% recyclable and can be used, among other things, as crushed stone for road construction. This allows us to be proud of the entire production chain behind our stone products.
A PRODUCT NEEDS A FACE
The customer must be able to trust that they are receiving genuine natural stone, as well as high-quality expertise and in-depth knowledge of the material behind the product.
The Natural Stone trademark is registered and owned by Euroroc, the umbrella organization of the European natural stone industry. The purpose of the Natural Stone brand is to promote awareness of genuine natural stone and natural stone products. The mark serves as a certificate of authenticity, confirming that the product is made from natural stone.

CE MARKING
Initial testing in accordance with EN standards has been carried out on the Finnish granites used by Loimaan Kivi. CE marking allows the free movement of the product within the European Economic Area. It is the manufacturer’s declaration that the essential characteristics of the product have been determined in accordance with a harmonised product standard and are presented in the CE marking in a uniform European manner.
Based on the CE marking information, the user of the product can verify whether the product meets the regulatory requirements set for its intended use. By affixing the CE marking, the manufacturer declares that these requirements are fulfilled.
Local production and short transport distances ensure a low carbon footprint for Finnish natural stone
The carbon footprint of Finnish natural stone has now been determined. In monitoring carbon-neutrality targets, it is essential that the carbon footprint of materials can be measured throughout the entire production chain, from start to finish. The carbon footprint / EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) has been calculated for the most commonly used building stones, stone countertops, and gravestones.
The goal of the Ministry of the Environment’s low-carbon construction roadmap is to incorporate the carbon footprints of buildings into regulatory guidance. The Ministry has developed an assessment method for building carbon footprints that enables the calculation of the climate impacts of construction over the entire life cycle of a building—from the manufacturing of building products to demolition and recycling. Sustainable use of natural resources, efficient material circulation, and long service life are becoming key factors in procurement. In this context, Finnish natural stone is one of the best choices as a building material.
Buildings and construction account for approximately one third of global greenhouse gas emissions. Many cities and municipalities have announced their goal to become carbon neutral, and the Finnish government’s target is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.

Stone withstands both use and scrutiny
Stone is a 100% recyclable and ecological natural material. Domestic natural stone endures the changing Finnish seasons and stands out for its exceptional strength and resistance to wear. Finnish natural stone is one of the best choices for all types of construction.
New uses are continuously being sought for the by-product stone generated at quarries, and at our factory in Loimaa all by-product stone created during production is further processed into crushed stone. Domestic natural stone is an extremely ecological material, originating directly from Finland’s rich bedrock.
